
A complete family of E-O modulators, used for modulating laser beams, for intensity or frequency or phase modulation, consists of non-linear optics (crystals) utilizing the transverse Pockels effect (low voltage). The crystals span the entire laser spectrum using ADP, AD*P, KDP, KD*P, ADA, AD*A, RDA, CD*A, BBO, LBO, KTP, KnbO 3, LiTaO3. Special AR coating in UV, visible or IR region are available upon request.
Precisely oriented, the crystals are mounted in thick-walled aluminum cylinders to minimize thermal gradients. Low absorption index matching fluid, combined with a fluid path length of less than 2mm, ensures high optical power transmission capability with no mode distortion or blooming

Models EO-10 & EO-11 are HIGH SPEED modulators of traveling wave type which are used for wide bandwidth (DC to 1000 MHz) high frequency modulation, for AMPLITUDE modulating and PHASE modulating (high 48 mrad/V phase sensitivity). The modulators can handle RF power up to 10 watts and CW optical power up to 1 watt @ 1064nm.
Models EO-10-BR is a Brewster E-O PHASE modulator, which assures the lowest possible loss over the widest optical spectrum (600-3500nm). Aperture is 2mm. The configuration of the modulator can be like a resonant electro-optic modulator type or like a traveling wave type phase modulator with a bandwidth exceeding 1000 MHz.

1The transverse mode: The electric field is applied normal to the direction of propagation of the light beam. The optical propagation direction for amplitude modulation is at an angle 450 to the Y or Z axis while the electric field is applied along the X axis.

Impedances available:
a) lumped capacitive, comes with two BNC connectors
b) transmission line version (50 ohm & 100 ohm), come with two triax and one bias connector
The modulator has some piezo-electric resonances in the 100-800 KHz fundamental frequencies (20% more than devices made from LiTaO 3)
The modulator can be converted into a POLARIZATION ROTATOR by adding an internal waveplate.
